Mac Gyver of Decorating
Ok so I don't have that super cool mullet or that great come hither stare, but I do know how to make do with what I have in order to get the job done like MacGyver. Since I'm on a huge kick of trying to be a Do-er I decided to stay in this Saturday and paint a console that is going to make it's home in my bedroom. The previous home owners left behind a RCA turntable console with built in speakers.
Looks something like this:
Not really my design style, but I decided to try and recycle it and bring some new life to it. I knew immediately that it would fabulous in my bedroom with a hand painted zebra pattern in chocolate brown and cream on it. So I spent saturday afternoon painting my base coat color and that evening I was all set to start painting my chocolate brown stripes. Of course I didn't think ahead and I had no paintbrush to use and it was late, so going out to store was not an option.
So what's a girl to do when she wants to get the job done? She goes into her make-up bag picks out her favorite eyeshadow brush and uses that. Talk about dedication to decor. I was able to get an inital layer of paint on and will finish it this evening. I need to get some fabric to cover the speakers so that is on my to-do list for after work. I will post pics as soon as it is done, but if I do say so myself it's looking really good.
I've totally pulled out brushes from my make-up bag to paint something in my house...at least I know I'm not the only crazy one. Post pics soon, I cant wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of that. Ingenious!! I can't wait to see how it turns out.
