O' Christmas Tree

Sunday was spent searching for new ornaments and purchasing our tree. I toyed with the idea of a fake tree. I really wanted a white faux Christmas tree, but it got nixed by everyone. So, boo to them, but I gave in and got a real one. We found the perfect tree and it looks wonderful in my living room. We got really cute lights this year that look like little pearls. We then decided to go with aqua, silver, cream and even some black ornaments! I'm still missing a tree skirt, but that will be coming soon.

Here is a close up shot of some of the ornaments:

Here is a shot of the mantle. It's my first year with a fireplace and I'm very excited about it. I finally found stockings that I purchased last year and then completely forgot where I put them when we moved in. Whoops, but all is well, because now they just need to be hung.

*** I want to paint the fireplace white, but Hubby doesn't want to. What are your thoughts?***

Finally a peak at my bangs! I'm still getting use to them. At times I feel like a little kid with them, but I still think they are pretty cool. I keep playing hair stylist and trimming them. I left the salon with them way too long. Also see my two of my favorite furry men. Moo is on the chair with me and our latest addition, Bear(Birthday present for moi) is below.

  3. HAHHA, as soon as I saw the fireplace in the picture I thought hmmm, wonder why she didnt paint that white, that seems like something she would do...I mean not that I know you personally or anything :) Tell the hubby to let you go at it with a can of WHITE paint on that puppy....it would make those brown walls pop and look AMAZING!!

  8. First, your tree is stunning!! Esp. love the monogram ornament.

Second, I adore the chocolate wall color. Are those the Tribeca romans shades from JCP? I LOVE THEM! I also agree, that brick would look so gorge w/ some soft white paint.

And finally, your bangs are so chic! I love how they make you look both retro-chic AND modern-chic.

  9. Love the tree & love your bangs! I'd definitely paint the fireplace white but maybe do a little bit of creamy aging in spots so it's not super-bright all over. (You can use a tea bag)

ps- I also LOVE your shades!!

  11. Thanks for all the sweet comments ladies!

That's it I'm so painting it this weekend. I've been dying to do it since I've moved. Hopefully I can convince Hubby that is the way it must be!

    FC,

Allison made the ornament it was part of my give away prize. Isn't it perfect. Good eye the shades are from JCPENNY.

    Lauren,

I was totally thinking of making it looked aged. I live a cottage style home so I thought it looked aged it would go with the feel of the house.

  13. For painting the fireplace- clean it & sand off any loose brick/ mortar & then prime it before painting. Once you get the paint on (use a latex) then you just brew a really strong, dark cup of tea & take the tea bag (or brush) and blot it on the spots where you want it. Let it sit for 30 mins or so & then wipe it clean with a dry rag. (The more concentrated the tea, the darker the staining.) You can add more layers depending upon how aged you want it to look. I usually stop at this point because I'm lazy with my projects but I've read you can then put a clear coat over top. ( I don't think you'll need it though) I can't wait to see finished pictures!! :)
