Let's dish!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you kind ladies for all of your great words of encouragement. It's been a bit difficult these last couple of weeks, but I have such high hopes for the future. So for the moment no more boo-hooing out of me.

Now on to design....

When I got my latest issue of Country Living a couple of weeks ago I was happy to see some advice from Eddie Ross that I had already taken part in weeks prior. I love being a head of the game. Here is the little tidbit that
Eddie gave Country Living readers:

For the last couple of months I've been looking at my living room and feeling like something was missing. I felt like it was almost finished, but who I am a kidding in my world rooms are never finished they just keep on revolving. I had been itching to make more of an impact around the fireplace and since I wanted to stay on budget I knew the impact had to be cost effective. A quick trip to my local TJ MAXX along with a visit to JoAnn's and I was set to go.

The mirror was already above the fireplace. It was a thrift store find. I loved the patina look on the mirror that I knew it had to be mine. It was about 10 bucks and with a coat of white paint it looked brand new. Originally that was the only thing above the fireplace. From TJ MAXX I got a variety of white plates at around $2.50-$3.00 each then to JoAnn's I went to pick up some plate holders for 1.99 each. The plates at the top of the mirror were a find from Anthropologie that I got after the Christmas season and they were on sale for $2.95 each! So voila there is my quick little change that has made quick an impact.

Another great tip from this month's Country Living was the idea of making some custom artwork with your blank plates. You could either decoupage an old picture or even make a custom silhouette of your family members, but my favorite idea was using rub-on stencils from Hambly.

My favorite patterned sheet is called, Silhouette:

So for right now this is a little sneak peek at my living room. Since I do love to switch things up I can guarantee it's not going to look like this forever. I already have another plan for what I would like to see above the fireplace.

Now I just have to break the news to my hubby who probably isn't going to be happy, because I just made him put 9 additional holes in the wall and I'm now thinking of changing it.

Ah you gotta love me.

  8. Love it! It looks great. Now in order to get out of hot water with the hubby you should invest in Command hooks. They really work. You don't have to use the hooks I use the velcro and it's great. Comes right off.

  11. No 35...the frames are actually vintage reproductions of french notebooks and I have them matted on burlap!

I love them, but I'm actually thinking of moving them around. I'm thinking of re-doing my home office so I think they will be moving upstairs. I'll show better pictures once everything is complete.
