Since we are still in the midst of finishing up our subway tile (pictures coming later on today) I’ve had kitchens on the brain and can’t stop thinking of them.
When I first moved into my house I knew I wanted WHITE in the kitchen. Like most I fell in love with the kitchen in Somethings Gotta Give and went off and designed a kitchen with white cabinets and dark countertops and of course with a touch of me as well.
Now I still love the kitchen that I have, but I wish had another couple of homes in which I could play around with different kitchen looks.
What is your favorite color combo in a kitchen?
Do you like the all natural wood look and granite?
Or are you bold and like a big shot of color in the kitchen?
Maybe you are walking the line between both and would love to have color on the bottom cabinets and wood on top?
Perhaps color isn’t your thing and you would rather paint the town white?
What’s your dream kitchen look like?
White or bright or a little bit of both?

I'd have to go with white, white and more white. Ok maybe really dark floors and then add in some color with accessories, but I love me some white!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your new kitchen with the subway tile- yeah!
Personally, I like white kitchens, though I think black cabinets look great, too.
ReplyDeleteThe white kitchen in this post is gorgeous!
Something about a white kitchen gives off such an airy/fresh feeling...
ReplyDeleteMy dream kitchen would be white, white, white with splashes of grey (particularly in my fabulous marble countertops!). However, I will have to keep dreaming because our home has oak (or maple?) kitchen cabinets and EVERYONE has advised me against painting them because of the resale value. We will be reselling in three years or so... my dream kitchen will just have to wait!
ReplyDeleteI love white Carrara marble countertops w/ a grey vein, with white cabinets, wood floors, and shiny silver fixtures (faucets and such).
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....that's a toughie. I have this "pretend we were remodeling a kitchen" discussion with my Hubby all the time.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I'd ever do the natural wood thing, but I'd have a hard time deciding between white cabinets with a good countertop/ island work-station material combo, or the grayish-green cabinet/dark countertop look you see a lot of.
Ahhhh...the choices!
After looking at those photos- I am a white kitchen kind of girl. Love some white (as y'all know from my many white posts)! But I do like white cabinets and walls with dark/black granite countertops.
ReplyDeleteFor my home, I want dark wood, light counters and an island. I want some sort of fun lighting and a window bench to have breakfast at with a big mug of coffee or tea. ( I do love white - but not for this house.)
ReplyDeleteI love Nigella Lawson's kitchen.

Lately I am loving white kitchens!!! But I love that green too. I am such a torn decorator. I love color but lately i love the simplicity of white!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your photos. My kitchen is white and black- 6 years later and I still love it!
ReplyDeleteI also love Something's Gotta Give. I have the dvd and watch it several times a year. The PERFECT home!
i love bright kitchens, they're so cheerful and they help motivate me to cook!
ReplyDeletecould go so many ways! My issue always comes down to wanting both a country and a city kitchen, regardless of the colors and finishes.
ReplyDeletewhite with a bit of natural texture, be it stone or wood somewhere...
ReplyDeletei have been having blogging withdrawal so i had to sneak on & say hi!!! :) LOVe the amy butler linen pices wow!!! and can't wait to see pics of the kitchen!!!
let me know what your schedule for visiting's like!!!
xoxo
I had always been a white kitchen person but lately, I'm loving really dark cabinets. Can't wait to see your new kitchen!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the process of doing our kitchen - we just bought our first home, and it is all black and white with some wine (both color and bottles) accents. I've been really happy with how it's coming out but it is doing to take a little while for the floors so I haven't put up any pics
ReplyDeletei'm painting the town white...when I get a new one! although i do love the pop of color on some (not all) cabinetry, usually if the kitchen is on the small side.
ReplyDeleteThe Something's Gotta Give Kitchen is my fave! My kitchen style is definitely white, maybe with a few pops of color. (If I ever knew for certain that I'd get my dream white kitchen, I'd start collecting stand mixers in the like in turquoise or something equally fun.)
ReplyDeleteThe white kitchen here is definately my favourite and almost identical layout to the galley kitchen I'm planning in my house, so thanks for the photo! Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteI have light wood in the kitchen and love it along with cream. It came with the house but I'm drawn to the photos of white kitchens. So beautiful. But to clean?
ReplyDeleteI love splashes of color but I have always dreamed of a classic white kitchen. I really love white cabinets and ebony wood floors, aaahhh... someday :)
ReplyDeleteKitchen cabinets take up 75% of the space in a kitchen by themselves and you must really think about what you are doing before you decide on the color of your kitchen
ReplyDeleteThanks
