Delights from Delights by Design

delights

In my eyes Blair can do no wrong. Her taste is always impeccable and completely effortlessly stylishly and she constantly makes me go from wanting a certain outfit or room to straight out NEEDING that item.

I tend to joke with her that Hubby isn’t going to be too happy with her, because she is why my wish list is always growing and growing and this week she didn’t disappoint.

My dining room has been the ban of existence. (Yes, I’m totally dramatic). We’ve been in the house a year and a half and it is still empty.

Ok not empty, but it looks like this:

Yes folks we resorted to a plastic table and plastic outdoor chairs! It’s very modern and up and coming. Last week I was having dinner guest over and couldn’t stand looking at the plastic table anymore so I grabbed some extra fabric I had laying around and voila tablecloth!

Since this a temporary fix that I’m slowly getting irritated by I’ve been on the quite the search for inspiration and then I saw this on Blair’s blog:

tulip table blair

Wow I’m in love. I love to mix and match and this is just perfection! The Saarinen Tulip table has always been on my wish list (plus I wanted a round table), the different color and style of the chairs really add something different to the mix and I love the touch of sparkle with the Chandelier!

So now the hunt begins to find a fab Saarinen table on Craigslist that needs a happy home.

What chairs would you throw into the mix. Originally I wanted to do a pleated slipcovered Parson chair.

Would it work?

Love love love the tulip table... can't get enough. I personally think you can pair ANY kind of chair with the table and it will be perfect! How couldn't it be? That table is a dream!

Thanks for the referral to Blair's blog (as IF I need to spend any more time on them! ;)

I've used that pic before, too - it is truly a perfect example of combining styles.
I love the pleated slips (seen Lauren use them, and they look great!), but I too am wondering if they'll obscure the view of your soon-to-be-snagged fabulous Tulip table???

Down & Out Chic is right, though - you made a plastic outdoor table work, I'm sure whatever you go with will be fab!

I am a huge fan of any round table. I think it just makes the space so inviting. My grandmother has an old table similar to this one, and mismatched chairs that she picked just because she loved them. I loved the picture, it is totally encouraging me to create a similar look at my house.

We started with black metal folding chairs, so there is hope. I think finding chairs that are comfy and easy to stack or to clean is essential. I love the round table, and I also love a slipper chair but I like having air, having legs and also a mix....
I will see if there is a table for you near here....I have a great vintage shop.

A round dining room table is on my wish list too, but I don't want to buy a dining room "set". For me, it seems too stuffy and too "together".

Maybe mismatched chairs, but with a matching and/or complimenting fabric?

My goal is to find different flea market find type chairs and paint and/or recover to match.

Just a thought.

I love this dining room! Such a great way to combine looks! I've been trying to figure out my dining room since I bought my house three years ago, and I think this is perfect. I've had a similar chandelier and some decent wood chairs. I found a vintage tulip table on craigslist that I will hopefully get this weekend. Add a coat of paint to my buffet, and some lamps and I think it should look great! Thanks so much for the post! I'm a huge fan of your blog!

If you are looking to add a unique piece of furniture to your home, spacify .com is the place to find it. spacify imports furniture from california and India at very low prices. spacify is a former wholesale operation but is now open to the public. These imports are marked so low, you’re dished a handful of neon stickers upon entry to stake your claim before the next shopper beats you to it
