Chinoiserie Chic at KMART!

While out shopping yesterday for a client I made a quick stop at Kmart to see what they had in their frame department.

Of course after peeking at the frames I continued making my way through all the home decor aisles.

I stopped in my tracks when I spotted this baby:

JSMITHELEPHANTLAMP

Ah totally in love. I wasn’t crazy about the shimmer in the lamp shade, but that could easily be replaced. I even thought of giving the little elephant a fun coat of paint. I quickly put it in my cart and then came to terms that I have way too many elephants in my living room and that this one might put me in that crazy zone where people will call me the elephant lady.

It was $40 at the store, but only $26.24 online. So even with shipping it’s still better to order it online.

Right next to it was another beauty:

JSMITHCANELAMP

At the store the price was $40, but online a lower price of $29.99.

Again I wasn’t crazy about the shade, but loved the caned base. I of course also envisioned attacking this was a can of spray paint!

The lamps are on the small side. Only about 17” high, but would look great on a small entry table, desk or vanity.

  1. You could save even more by using Ebates if you're going to get them online. Love the elephant one... especially picturing it painted white!

  5. Ooh love them both! My sister lives in California and she finds the best lamps at KMART! I am always shocked when she shows me one, I still can't believe they are from KMART. Our store here stinks!

  6. Kmart is really steppin' it up...and you should've totally bought the elephant (and spray painted it a glossy fun color!). Maybe for the next project you do for a client?!

  8. Cute! You could always rotate your elephants. Keep some in storage and the rest on display. I'm the same way with black cats...

  14. Maaan... I haven't had a Kmart in any of the towns I've lived in since I was about 10. But now I know to scout their lamps online! I was thinking the same as a couple of the others... white! And a great fabric print shade, like 4th one here. Yuuum.

  16. I love it! I fresh coat of pain and a new shade & done! What was the quality like? Some of their stuff end up looking too "cheap"

  17. WOW! Kmart? We don't have one nearby. :(( I am already called Elephant Lady (it's my logo, company name from 12 years ago, and they fill my house without asking), so I am restraining myself from an internet hunt for these! But high gloss green (like my co. Green Elephant Studios) with a great tangerine and white shade I already have....okay I'm justifying here.

  18. Elephants! But, yes, we must show restraint with these little guys. I have too many as it is!

  19. That lamp shade is an understated beauty. Hang a framed piece of contemporary Chinese art above it, or a pot of Japanese bamboo beside for best effects.
