Did you know that Tommy (aka Sarah's fab design sidekick) has a facebook page?
Well he does and he recently posted pictures of a home where he use to live that he renovated from top to bottom.
Check out the black walls:
It reminds me a bit of something Mr. Eddie Ross would do.
He also showcased this drool worthy kitchen that is currently in the latest issue of House & Home Kitchen and Bath special issue.
Instead of black on the walls we get hit with black from the floor to the windows!
Look at that those tiles. What a great idea to place them in a herringbone pattern. That would make any plain jane budget tiles from Home Depot turn into a show stopper. Such an easy project that you could do on a floor tiles or a backsplash.
* A big thanks to all of you for telling me to leave the black paint as is. So happy I didn't paint it. :)
I did a post on him once. I love how all his things still look great in his new white and bright space! The black was pretty amazing though!

ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous! I only recently became brave enough to use darker colors in my home (my living room is now dark blue). Perhaps some day I will be bold enough to try black as well!
ReplyDeleteOooo, good find. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteI think black walls are the new white.
ReplyDeleteWow! I agree that the wood tones and the black look striking together. And that herringbone pattern would jazz up just about anything.

I have a design crush on Tommy and Sarah. Can't miss one of their shows. My husband doesn't even consider deleting any of them on the DVR without asking ;)
ReplyDeletethe black walls are to die for, and the gold accents against it are gorgeous!I've always wanted to do black walls, maybe in a guest bathroom or something, someday :)
ReplyDeletei love tommy!
ReplyDeletefunny and wildly talented to boot. i love the super masculine vibe of his home he remodeled. scrump----tious!!
So glad you didn't paint it! That room is amazing- I love that quilt! AND...Can not believe your headboard!! It turned out so beautiful...sounds like LOTS of work! Not sure my husband would have done it!
ReplyDeleteWell!
ReplyDeleteIt just go to show you how fickle we are ha ha.
If you truly love something, then it doesn't matter what's in or out.
But that's not the problem - the problem is we want it all! And we can have it all when it comes to paint!
I have been toying with the idea of painting my bedroom black. Truly.
Don't know how it would play with the light in New Orleans. Some paint colors look better in different regions.
Great post!

Thank you for sharing this! I think I had seen the kitchen, but the bedroom- swoon! Reminds me a little bit of the show house bedroom we just rapped up a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love how masculine the space is without alienating the ladies! Perfection
ReplyDeleteI love black walls!! I wouldn't put them just anywhere in my house, but it's definitely nice in a bedroom. Very sultry. Also love the black shades on the lamps- dark shades give such a sexy glow at night. I love all the wood, too. AND all that gorgeous brass!I'm also a big fan of layered bedside tables. And the kitchen? BEEE-UTIFUL! Black, white, and wood is always sooo sexy, sophisticated, and timeless.
ReplyDeleteSHUT THE FRONT DOOR..TOMMY IS MY FRIEND IN MY HEAD..LOVE HIS CRIB!
ReplyDeleteI also love his facebook page - when I saw that kitchen with the black floors - I fell in love!
ReplyDeleteLove Tommy & his home! You mentioned in your previous bathroom update post that you were considering imperial trellis fabric for your shower curtain but it wasn't in the budget. I'm in the process this week of creating my own trellis fabric curtains DIY style for one of my guest rooms. I created a stencil and painted it! I've been blogging about it this week as I progress. Stop by and check it out if you're interested. I even posted the stencil for sale in my shop in case you didn't want to create your own. I love cutting paper and I love your blog! Thanks for stopping by if you do!
