Hi All,
It’s taking all the strength I have to be awake at the moment and actually doing work. Here is a little peek into what has made me so tired.
Friday evening was full of prep work for some touches that needed to go in my sissy’s apt.
Doesn’t this remind you of a Serena & Lily ad? I love when they place their furniture pieces in fields and snap away. Ok yes, their pictures are much nicer, but a girl can pretend. Didn’t you know spotty & burned grass on lawns are all the rage in NY? :)
Friday evening was spent sewing. You all know how well that goes for me. I was able to two make two curtain panels and got a bit ahead of myself with a pillow and lets just say Jon had to spent the rest of the evening fixing my pillow disaster. :)
Saturday morning was spent doing more prep work. We needed to make a full size headboard on the cheap so we went searching around our house and found all this:
*DIY instructions on this will follow this afternoon.
We finally finished and loaded up the car and headed to sissy’s apt to install a couple of pieces:
New coral and white striped curtains got hung:
Toss pillows and new headboard dressed up the bed:
We even dressed up the little nightstand with a coat pink spray paint, textured scrapbooking paper and ribbon:
We (me and my two sissy’s) hit the road for Lilith Fair in NJ! We arrived around 5 and we super excited that we hadn’t missed out on any of our favorites, because the concert had actually started at 2:30.
Here are my sisters and Daniela’s friend, Cate:
For some reason no one sat with me on my blanket. :( So I needed to take a picture of myself:
The concert didn’t end till around 11:30, which meant I didn’t arrive home till 2 am.
It would have been lovely to sleep in on Sunday, but I had big plans for the day. You see almost 6 years we (me & Jon) purchased all of our bedroom furniture. At that time it was all about sets so we have a matching bed set (gasp!) Slowly we’ve added new pieces into the mix so that it doesn’t look too uniform and my latest obsession was getting rid of our bed and making a new one.
That’s right actually building a new one. Nothing was wrong with the old one. It was actually a really nice bed, but it was sleigh bed and took up a lot of space and due to the curving it had on the head and foot boards I could never simply recover them to get a new look.
So this happened:
And then this happened: We had already purchased the wood a couple of weeks ago so everything just needed to cut.
Then a lot of this:
And this:
Then had a trip to Home Depot to pick up more wood to make this piece even sturdier than we original designed just to be safe.
Then we were totally sad and tired that we were not going to finish this in one day:
Because it was already past 10pm and we had been working all day and there was no way we were going to be able to upholster the bed and headboard today.
Then finally we had this:
* The legs need an additional coat of paint and the whole frame is getting upholstered, but we needed to see if the mattress and box spring actually fit in it.
Victory it all fit!
We were finally able to get to bed, but of course tonight the madness continues as we hopefully finish it up. Once it’s all done I will have a massive DIY.
So loves, what were you up to? Anything fun and exciting?
