I have a similiar back story to yours. I love interior design but in college I decided to major in Merchandising and Design because I thought it was more practical. I then worked as a sales manager in a department store and later as a retail buyer. Now I find myself unemployeed and want to have a career, a business of my own, and not just working for a paycheck. What that business will be, I have no idea, but I am looking forward to the journey. Your blog is really encouraging and I look forward to following your successes. The Brick Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03584614738331902706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643332223539296916.post-65654262553979106012009-11-10T00:36:46.804-05:002009-11-10T00:36:46.804-05:00I love what I do and it happens to be interior des...I love what I do and it happens to be interior design too. I have had decor in my bones, like many of you, since I was young. I had to submit floor plans before moving furniture as a child because my parents found me trapped under a desk at age 8. I followed a conventional path through college and once the plans to be a doctor didn't pan out, I've been in sales ever since.

We moved to FL two years ago and I almost took the plunge. I looked into the local art school and came thiiiiissss close to enrolling in an interior design program. I chickened out, the debt was too much for us to handle at the time.

The only solace I have is that I know that EVENTUALLY I will come around to my calling in design. Before I was restless and in despair that it would never come, but am comfortable now to let things unfold as they may. There's a time and a place for everything.

Great to hear your story!court.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00279703377834888564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643332223539296916.post-18415513449343730132009-11-09T21:26:38.434-05:002009-11-09T21:26:38.434-05:00I hope one day I am able to take that leap and do ...I hope one day I am able to take that leap and do what I love even though I have denied myself that gift up until now. I enjoy the energy industry, find it interesting, etc. but am NOT generally in love with what I do on a day-to-day basis. Maybe someday, but not today.

So I'm giving it some time, but have found myself spending more and more time blogging, designing (both real and imaginary rooms) and trying to figure out a way to make some money off both of those. :)Averillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05758556623588696377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6643332223539296916.post-14663988832352248672009-11-09T14:54:28.900-05:002009-11-09T14:54:28.900-05:00I am going to have to read this book!
