All lacquered up

I think I’ve become obsessed with any image that slightly resembles my new business cards. I loved seeing this shot below with that jaw dropping amazing shade of green!  It took me a couple of seconds, but then I realized that the walls had an amazing gloss and knew it had been lacquered! Perfection.

Forget about eggshell and satin finish I now want to get my hands on a wall, or two, or three, etc and paint them in high-gloss!

When you go with a bold paint color you are on your way to getting a dramatic room, but add the high-gloss and you hit the nail on the head.

I don’t normally go for a burgundy type color on walls, but I love them with the lacquer and the artwork, which helps break up all the dark color. sochicbooklaq

I love the way that light reflex off the wall. It add a touch of sparkle to a room without looking cheesy.

While the majority of images with lacquered walls  tend to be on the dark side you can always use it in with a light shade as well.

Overall the look of high-gloss just makes a room look simply glamourous!

So would you ever take the plunge and do it?

In searching online it looks like lacquering your walls is not really a DIY project. It should be done by a professional to get that amazing mirror like reflective quality.

You can also find lacquered wall coverings to get a similar look as well.

  1. That yellow ceiling has me drooling. Here's the difference between you and me, Camila. I would never in a million years even think to do something like this myself. You, however, actually looked into it! This also explains why I have a million projects that need to be done and you're knocking them out like all the time. :)

  8. I don't know if I could be THAT gutsy - does that make me a design wimp?
Maybe a ceiling done a la lacquer, I could handle!

  9. I also love that look. I know this sounds cheesy, but I watched MTV Cribs w/ Mariah Carey and her walls were very glossy and that's when I fell in love with the glossy look! :)

  10. That last room looks like the far wall is covered in glass? Is that sheen from lacquer(can't spell that word to save my life)? If so, I totally love it! Do you know? Now I am really curious, I so totally love that room!

  17. I know, I wish it was not hard to lacquer a wall! Everything has to be smooth, smooth as any tiny imperfection will show once its lacquered- total bummer because it would be a fun DIY project :)
