Design Crush: Kristen Buckingham

Ok, so I’ve been a totally horrible blogger this week. I was so overwhelmed with my to-do lists and high-gloss trim paint that I wasn’t able to coordinate an IN HER SHOES feature for this week.

I blame the paint fumes even though I just started painting yesterday. Ah!  Well this morning I was completely stressed over what to write about today. Normally I have things planned in advance, but today I was on empty.

A quick trip to one of my favorite blogs and I was back in business. Jennifer posted an image that I had posted earlier in the week and due to her comments I was able to find out who’s work it was!

Enter Kristen Buckingham my new design crush and someone I would love to feature in the IN HER SHOES series.

She’s married to a rocker. Hubby is Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac.  So she already cool in my eyes and not only does interior design work, but creates custom furniture as well.

kb2

I’m so sold. Where do I sign up to be her new BFF.

kb3

I love the way she is able to mesh boho chic elements with traditional and modern elements. The match is perfection.

kb4

All of her work comes off seamless with the mixing of pattern, textures and styles that some might be scared to try.

kb5

Her work is the exact definition of what eclectic means in my mind and she does it just right.

I’m off to order some fabric samples and work on 3 room designs! Yay for friday it couldn’t get here early enough this week.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

xoxo,

Camila

I admire anyone who can really mix things up so well. I really like all of these rooms - each one has so many interesting things to look at. Happy weekend to you!

Hey Camila-
So your post today reminded me of this post from Cote de Texas last month.

http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/2009/06/good-money-for-nothing.html

Just thought it was interesting how you guys had two totally different perspectives on this designer and thought you might want to read her take. It seems to have brought up some controversy on Cote de Texas's blog!

she can definitely mix it up!

thanks for the sweet mention and the link!

I agree, the mix of styles works so well here. And I love all the little landscape paintings, they are so beautifully presented. Have a great weekend!

Thanks Re:Fresh for the Joni link. I don't read Joni's blog all the time so I must have missed that one and it was quite the post.

I like the rooms. Not sure exactly what the means about me. Sure nothing everything is something I would have done. I only posted the images I liked there were others in her portfolio that I disliked, but to me it was just an example of how you to mix and match in home.

Simply just eye candy.

I love Kristen Buckingham, too. Thanks for the lovely pictures. I saw FM in the spring, and Lindsay was to-die-for. I couldn't decide if I wanted to be him (b/c he's talented), or eat him (b/c he's absolutely gorgeous). Cheers!

I love Lindsey! She has a unique way of decorating...love the way she mixes it all up so it doesn't look so done.

I just read the Cote de Texas post on KB. Yikes. Does she rant against every designer she wouldn't personally use to decorate her own house? Why does eclectic insight such rage??? Too funny.

Love all of the pics. She has a great eye, not everyone can mix different styles and still make it look sophisticated.

I have a serious soft spot for a good gallery art wall and that first shot is good. So, so good! I loved that home when it first appeared in Elle Decor(?), she is a serious talent. Beautiful work!

I agree with you on the eye candy thing. Sometimes you just want to admire a room for what it is-something fun to look at and not analyze every thing in the room down to the minor details. There is a time and place for that-sure-when you want to learn more specifically about design, but sometimes you just want eye candy!
