Take Note
I know chalkboard paint has been around for awhile now, but I have yet to use it in my own home.
I don’t think I could commit to a whole room in my house. But I finally decided to paint one door panel in the kitchen. Jon wanted to use magnetic paint as well so we are not finished with this little project yet, but it’s been quite easy to far.
My hubby has now turned into a decorator himself and told me we could use the chalkboard paint on my desktop as well. Ah perfection it will complete the look of the desk. Can’t wait to do that this weekend.
I know the idea of painting a room partly black is not for everyone so there are a variety of wall decals you can choose from.
My favorite find has to be from a Lillian Vernon that I almost tossed out in the trash without giving it a second glance, but I’m so happy that I didn’t.
At only 19.99 for 4 panels it is one of the cheapest options I have seen and they totally reminded me of Erin and how it would be perfect her weekly meal plans.
So are you over the chalkboard trend or do you have it/still want it in your home?

I think I'd like to give it a go in our home, but I'm just not sure where. We don't have an infinite amount of wall space and our kitchen is on the small side with very few cabinets. So, maybe THAT will be the challenge! ;0)
Don't have it. But if I had a random door in the kitchen- I would paint it. I loved the one Fran Kennan did in her house (published in Cottage Living).
I like the look, but honestly, I hate CHALK! If they could come up with different chalk I'd do it :-)
I love my chalkboard frame thing. I'm only sorry I didnt use the magnetic paint as well. I saw it at home Depot when we were getting the chalkboard paint but didnt get it. Kinda upset now about it.
I think its great stuff and its always nice to be able to write stuff down on the walls :)
i love it. its going into my kids playroom when i have them. in like 500 years. i have to find a husband first i suppose.
Danielle, you crack me up. I love the way it's done in Tori and Deans playroom. Where there is chalkboard paint from the chair rail down, but of course I couldn't find any images of that to post.
i want a chalkboard wall, i love it:)
I'm actually working on the same project this weekend. Just limited to this tiny corner space I have in my kitchen! I can't wait to see yours!!
I used the magnetic paint under the chalkboard paint on one wall of my baby's nursery. I love that my hubby write a new note to the baby everyday.
I'd love to have some more, I only have a little on one door. xo
I can't wait to see how it turns out. I want to something similar in my kitchen but it will have to wait until after we move.
I am not sure I would enjoy this in my home, but I have seen it used creatively other places!! :) It's such a neat idea.
I am with urbansardines, I don't do chalk. Therefore I never got on this bandwagon. Chalk makes me sneeze just looking at it, even when I use it for sewing I wear gloves.
I do love that border look in the arts and crafts style picture that you chose.
Magnets are cool though:)
I have not used it yet either, but would love to find a spot for it. I love the idea of interacting with your space! Read about whiteboard paint not too long ago in MET home, love to try that, too!
Best,
Claire
I love the look - in the right place. For those tempted but afraid, start with painting a door on the inside of your pantry or kitchen cabinets. It's usable for shopping and 'to do' list, but no one knows it's there except you. Test drive it, and then decide if it's a look you'd want on a wall.
i am kinda over it.
I still love it - there's some really cute chalkie-stuff on Etsy, too.
I really wanted one for a while but heard that it gets really messy so I decided against it. I still like them a lot though and think one wall would be really striking.
I love that Jon's getting all into it now! Can't wait to see the kitchen part.
i am totally fine with the trend b/c i love using the paint. it's so easy!
I still like the look too.
Camilla, thanks for your comment on the fabric covered boards -- hanging jewelry on them is a great idea!
Before you spend the money on the Lillian version take a look at this website: http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/37-188-contact-papers/chalkboard-contact-paper-105260.aspx
It's contact paper that is chalkboard. No joke, it's the best thing! You can stick it on, it erases very well, then if you want to move it, it comes right off!
That was so fun to get to the end of you post and see a link to me :) Thanks!
I love chalkboard paint. I recently made my first one and love it so much that I'm set to make another. Wish I had the guts to do a whole wall, but the idea of all that chalk dust makes me a bit apprehensive. Looks so cool though. And we all love our one. Don't think I'll tire just yet of it.
I have mixed my own colors of chalk board paint and painted it on my kids doors - a little more subtle than the black. I like that it doesn't have to look like a chalkboard all the time!
These images all look great and get me thinking about where else I could put some!
haven't used the paint but we love our big chalkboard in the kitchen!!
xoxo
if I thought I had good handwritting I so would have done this a long time ago
