Update: He’s Gone

A big huge hug to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. We got a phone call yesterday afternoon that Jon’s sweet grandpa had passed away.

We both stopped working for the day and went off to grandma’s house to check on her. She’s handling things as well as can be expected. At times she is okay and you can even get a smile out of her, but just as quickly it can turn to her sobbing that, “he’s gone.” Over and over again. She was the only boy she ever dated, her one true love so it’s understandable that she is so upset.



Plans have been made, family is coming in from around the US and wakes will take place Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and evening with the funeral on Saturday.



I’m taking the rest of the week off. I feel insanely guilty about not posting or commenting this week, but then again I feel insanely guilty going on like nothing has happened. So I think it’s best that I take a couple days off and throw myself into helping out however I can with Jon’s grandma.

    Camila, of course you should take time off. Family first. Pulling together during this time will make all the difference in the world. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with Jon, yourself, and his sweet grandmother.

    You don't know me, but I love your blog and I really enjoy reading it everyday.

    I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost all of my grandparents by the time I was 20, and I loved them so much. Not a day goes by that I don't miss them. So I know how painful this time is. But being with family and remembering all the wonderful memories will give you the strength to get through it.

    Hang in there... and know that there are lots of thoughts and prayers being sent your way. It sounds like Grandpa was an amazing man, and touched all of your lives... hopefully those memories of him are a comfort to you during this tough time.

    I am so so sorry to hear this. Please know that my thoughts are with you and Jon and the rest of your family at this time.

    Two months later my Grandma is still sad that my Grandpa is not around and I swear the best thing I could do for her is just call, visit, send her notes in the mail and just keep her smiling and surviving as she says :)

    Take all the time you need and do not even think about feeling guilty! We will all be here with big hugs for you whenever it is that you come back!
