Nothing too exciting to report this Monday.
We got a phone call Saturday morning while on our morning walk with the pups that Jon’s grandfather who now lives in a nursing home and has been in hospice care for a year and half was doing very badly.
So we rushed off to the nursing home with Jon’s sisters and spent the day there.
It was emotionally exhausting. Lots of tears and watching Jon’s grandma fall to pieces.
He is still with us, but things are just getting worse not better. One of our close friends is a doctor and is in her first year of residency. We had dinner with her and her hubby last night and I discussed with her the sound of his breathing and apparently she said that it is called a death rattle and that he probably only has a matter of days.
Most of the family has come to terms with what's going to happen. It's been a long road where we have seen him suffer and only wish him to finally have some peace and comfort, but Jon's grandma is a whole other story. She is losing her partner and that is something that I don't think I will ever be prepared for. She would rather have him like this then not have him at all.
My brain is in fog and truthfully I can’t even think of anything remotely design related to post about today so I figured I would just let you all know what is on my mind.
Sorry for the sad post.
xoxo,
Camila
So sorry to read this! I remember hearing my grandma breathe that way in the day or so before she passed. It's awful to hear it and worry that your loved one is suffering. Hopefully the end will come quickly and painlessly for him! You're in my thoughts.

I totally know how you feel, I had to watch my grandma go though the same thing only two months ago. My thoughts are with you and Jon. xoxox
ReplyDeleteIsn't it strange how petty home decor seems at times like this? I'm sorry to hear that you and your husband are going through such a hard experience. It is a rough one.

Your thoughts are exactly where they should be. Such a difficult thing to see someone you love suffer and just as difficult to see their spouse going through the process of having to say goodbye.

Thanks for all your sweet words! It really means a lot to me to know that there are so many people thinking of us.
ReplyDeleteWent to the nursing home yesterday and stayed awhile with Jon's Grandma and Aunt. His condition is remaining the same and we just keep hearing it's a matter of days.
Grandma broke down a bit when all the aides and nurses started coming in to check in on her and say goodbye to Grandpa. She keeps saying she's not ready for this, that she kinda likes the guy.
My mom was there with me and just told her that she needs to take things one day at a time. That she will be strong enough when the time comes.
Still sad.
Anyway I'm backed up with work so I need to attend to that today and then back tomorrow with hopefully something design related.
Thanks for all the love!
xoxo,
Camila
