Goodbye 2010!

2010 was quite the year. I had a bunch of ups with my business growing, launching the new blog look and finally having my professional site live, but with the ups must come the downs and the end of my 2010 was stressful and heartbreaking. I’m so ready to say goodbye to 2010 and hello 2011!
I hope you are all have a fun night filled with friends, family and of course a yummy sparkling oreo cake!

Snowed in!

NY has been snowed in today due to a massive snow storm yesterday. I’m taking it easy today and enjoying some time with my family and our new pup!
My dad loved her! Pictures will follow.
Posting will be a bit light this week, but I will be around.
I hope you all had a lovely holiday!

Second look…

Crowd favorite:
Made me give this fabric (soon to be crowd favorite) a second look:
Love it! Plus Jon’s favorite part no dragons! I’m certain the $20 a yard price tag added to my husband’s love for it.

The final countdown…

I can not believe that Christmas is at the end of this week. I have yet to wrap a present, because oh yea up until yesterday I hadn’t purchased anything! Very unlike me and I’m sort of freaking out a bit. Where there is a will there is a way and I’m certain that I’ll be finished with my shopping in time. Fingers crossed.
For those of you in the same boat as me I must remind you that Effortless Style offers gift certificates for the design lover or design challenged family member or friend!
How chic are these printable gift certificates:

Also I’m offering my e-decorating packages at a crazy discount! You can read more about it here! The basic gist of it is that for my crazy sale price of $187 you will receive a design board, design instructions, shopping list in a digital booklet. I give you the plan and you put it into action!

Weekend Recap: Chaos!

This weekend was complete chaos. I wish I could say it was filled with Christmas shopping madness and that I was all finished with my shopping, but I would be lying. So instead of rehashing my emotionally draining weekend where nothing got crossed off my to-do list I figured I would share some snap shots of things that got accomplished last week that I have yet to share.
My latest purchase from etsy arrived:
Close up of artwork:
My first purchase from One Kings Lane arrived and got put to use:
My Maddox Chandelier also finally arrived. The beads are a bit larger than I expected, but I put it up anyway and I think I’m ok with it.
In the same package came my Chippendale brackets, which are on sale and amazing.
Latest ebay win also arrived!
The mailman most think I’m opening up my own shop, because all of these client boxes also arrived:
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Tell me something fun you did.

Camila

Taste the Rainbow

I love to live my life colorfully. I think others would agree that it makes everyday life a bit more fun! Gift a little color this holiday season!
1. No words to describe this beauty. I’m simply in love!
2. Lately I forget everything if I don’t jot it down. This memo pad would make forgetting a more stylish feat.
3. A perfect hostess gift!
4. I told you I was obsessed.
5. Fill them up with water and enjoy getting your 8 glasses a day.
6. Once my ears get tired of wearing #4 then #6would be a nice resting place for them.
7. Pink & Purple were my childhood favorite color combo!
Have you tasted the rainbow?

Blog Spotlight: The Zhush

I simply adore Sue’s tagline: Silly Name, Smart Style.
Sue is a fellow NY who covers design, entertaining and fashion on her blog, The Zhush. She is a girls girl who adores leopard print just as much as me. You must take a sneak a peek into her ski home that showcases her design talent!
Love her use of Cole and Sons Woods wallpaper.
Recently Sue has entered into the roll of shop owner with her own e-commerce site called Zhush.
She has some great gifts for the holiday:
1. I don’t think I would ever want to put a glass on these stylish coasters and cover up there beauty.
2. Everybody loves a little bling. It looks like there is a big chunk of rock candy on top of this wine stopper and I love it!
3. You know I think every home should have a touch of animal print. Get your touch with these hand paintedcatchalls
4.Obsessed with Orange. Obsessed with cozy. This blanketfits both obsessions.
5. I want a dressing room and in that dressing room I want a wall filled with these hooks. My purses would be so happy. The husband not as happy.
I just love getting to know the members of the blog directory. Have you submitted your blog?

Yesterday while sourcing items for clients I was pleasantly surprised to see some very familiar furniture pieces with knocked down prices. At first I thought it was knock-off, but the products really look exactly the same and they even name them the same thing.
Take a look for yourself:

Brigitte Side Table: $413 vs $245
Hourglass Side Table: $288 vs $169
Taboret Side Table: $288 vs $175
Jacqui Side Table: $338 vs $269
All the look for less options also have free shipping!

Chic & Cheap: Fireplace Screen

Love Eileen Kathryn Boyd’s fireplace screen that I spotted in her feature in Lonny!
It’s discreet, but has a nice geometric pattern on it.
I couldn’t find the exact one she has, but for a similar look at a really budget friendly price check out this find from JC PENNEY’s:
Only $99.99!

Baby it’s cold outside…

{Image via Domino}
This chilly weather has me very thankful that we ended up with house that had a fire place.
I love lighting it up (ok so Jon does the lighting), grabbing some hot chocolate and stack of magazines and just relaxing by the warmth with the pups at my feet.
Some accessories for the fire place lover would make for a great holiday gift this season:
1. A cozy throw for some added warmth. I would pretend it was a very much lusted after Hermes blanket.
2. Owls are all the rage this season and I must say I have fallen for them as well. I hope they get along with all of the elephants in my house. These andirons are a perfect gift and only $45.
3. Marshmallows are a must in my house. I love using them in smores or hot chocolate during the cold winter months.
4. Every fireplace has a mantle that needs to be adorned with Stockings come Christmas morning.
5. I may not have the Hermes blanket I dream of, but I can still have a little bit of Hermes orange in a hot chocolate mug.
6. Hot Chocolate the way my mom makes it. Add a tablet to a cup of hot milk and blend. Yum.
7. A little dose of animal print in the form of fireplace matches.
8. I love gold tones mixed into my fireplace mantle and this holder adds the perfect dose.
9. Instant fireplace for those that don’t have a fireplace. Exudes a lovely aroma of a real wood burning fire.
10. Canvas log carrier for only $11.73! Get the gift receivers initials embroidered on it and voila chic gift!
What are your must haves for the perfect fireplace?

Ellie Love!

I think it’s official. I’m head over heels in love with elephants. I can’t help it. I don’t think I will ever get over them and I find it hard/almost impossible to resisting purchasing them when I see them. Especially when they are on sale!
I picked up 3 of these beauties last week for $4.98 each!
Now sure traditionally they are for tea, but remove the lid, add some water and blooms and voila elephant vase!
I was considering gifting the 3 elephants I bought, but now I think I want them marching on my mantle filled with flowers!
Run to Pier 1 and pick some up for yourself!

TGIF!

So excited for the final count down till the weekend. My office windows are currently being installed! I wasn’t too happy when they gave me 9am-6pm as my time frame for installation, but we have men at work as I type!
To occupy my time I’ve been devouring the latest issue of Lonny:
My favorite part has to be the spread on Eileen Kathryn Boyd she always been a huge source of inspiration for me and lives only a couple of towns away from me so it was fun getting a sneak peek into her home.
Tonight I’m heading into the city to have a bite to eat at Eataly and see Black Swan.
What are you up to tonight?

White Christmas

Finding budget friendly gifts for people can feel a bit daunting. Here is a round up of some of my favorite white accessories (they will go in mostly anyone’s home) and everything is less (most of them way less) than $50.
1/2/3/4/5/6/7
The best part? They are all part of the Elle Decor collection from Kohls!
The hour glass, owl and parrot along with a couple of other sale items have already been ordered by me.

Client Inspiration…

I have a new client. We met about 2 weeks ago and I must say that while I’m normally really calm about the first consult this client was giving me butterflies. Why you may ask? Well, this client is on the cusp of turning 10 and her birthday gift is a new room designed by me. Did I mention this almost 10 year old knows exactly what she wants. She came to the meeting with a folder full of inspiration, products that she liked and color palettes that she loves and drew out in markers.
Lucky for me we both hit it off and I heart my new client. We are meeting this Friday to discuss the design plan.
I’ve been scouring my inspiration files for images that would help me come up with a color combo and I think I’m leaning towards orange/pink/green combo.
We are going for a more modern look, but I think I have a winning color combo!

Christmas Wish List…

It took a while for the Christmas spirit to hit me this year, but I’m happy to report that I’ve finally been bitten by the holiday bug! Christmas music has streaming from my laptop all day while I work, candy canes have been eaten and of course my Dear Santa list has started to come together.
Number 1 on my list is a piece of art. More specifically is a piece of art by Bella Foster:
Not only is she an amazing artist, but she also blogs. According to that blog she is currently having an art show in NY that runs till the 19th of Dec. Hmm perhaps Santa (Wink, wink… I mean you.. Jon) can head on over their and check it out.
What is your dream art purchase?

Trimming the tree…

Yesterday I headed over to check out Tobi’s blog and the Christmas spirit finally started to kick in when I set my eyes on her daughter’s playroom.
What a fun, joyful, and colorful place. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tobi. Her work is jaw-dropping and I’m itching to save up my pennies and head to one of her design camps and learn from the master.
This tree resides in the playroom where they monkey around. Check out the barrel of sock monkey ornaments sprinkled throughout the tree:
If you want to inject a little bit of Tobi’s tree style into your home then here are some sources to help you recreate the look on a budget:
