Born to Discount Shop

I wanted to share a couple of my recent thrifty purchases that I've added to my home.

A couple of days ago I posted about my love of feed stacks. Below is a pic of the vintage feed/flour sack that I purchased on ETSY for $10! I added an IKEA frame and Voila:

I ideally want to try and make a cushion with it and use it in my bay window in my dining room, but for now I like it's home in my kitchen.

Speaking of my Dining Room. It is finally in the U.S. of A. and ready to be delivered. When I went to go pay the balance on my dining set I found many great deals in a local store called Peter Andrews. (Sorry that don't have a website)

I found a collection of white platters with a coral design on it. I got 2 large ones for 3.79 and 2 14" oval ones for 2.79. I think white dishware is the way to go with dinnerware. It's a great blank canvas, which allows you to be creative with your food choices. Plus it will go nicely with my white milk glass collection.

Another gift item that I found at Peter Andrews was a lovely blue and white tray. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them or use them as gifts for the holidays, but for $2.79 how could I not get them. I picked up four, but I'm thinking I should go back and get more.

This latest thrify item had me plain old giddy when I saw it:

My pride and joy is my new Cabinet of Natural Curiosities for 25 bucks at Barnes and Noble!

I ran right home and put in my living room coffee table, which I bought at a garage sale for $15! It was originally counter height and red. So with my hubby to the rescue I had it made to be coffee table height and painted white.

Another super deal that I recently got was a wine rack for my sister's apt. She's on a budget and didn't really want to spend much. I went to a white elephant sale and found one. It was dirty and rusted by only $2. After some cleaning and white spray paint it now looks like this:

Lucky for my sister my current job is in the wine field and her rack (ha ha) will always be full. At least for the time being until I decide to stop being a scardy cat and try and strike out on my own in the decorating world.

Since I'm a great sissy I also made her two lovely custom cork boards when she moved in to spruce up her bare bedroom walls.

One is used for her many jewels:

The other one resides opposite her bed and is filled with pictures of friends and family:

Both boards were purchased at thrift stores for $4 each and then I used some fabric, ribbon and spray glue.

Oh almost forgot for all of you ladies eyeing Foo Dogs, but not ready to spend big bucks on them Pier 1 comes to the rescue.

These pups have been on my mind for a couple of weeks now. I really have no where for them to go, but I time I go into visit them I'm tempted to buy them. They are a steal for ten bucks! Also available in orange.

Hope you enjoy my latest finds!

Check you out! I love everything! I think I need to get to your house- because I have never seen ANY of those things before!

I'm not going to comment on the dogs because you already know how I feel about them!
