Weekend Recap: Treasure Hunting

Hi Loves,

I hope you all had a great weekend! I’ve been trying to step away from the computer on the weekends so I’m a day late in wishing all those Mom’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you had a fun day with your families. I know I enjoyed hanging out at my parents house and spoiling my mom for a bit.

While Sunday was a full day of family time on Saturday I ventured out with Jon to do a little treasure hunting on Long Island.

We tried using one of those garage sale finder apps on our iphones, but it didn’t work out as planned. It took us to our first destination and there was nothing going on. We checked again and apparently the sale was in Maine, but our phones thought we were there.

Since that was a bust we hit one of our favorite antique malls that we hadn’t been to in a while. If you are ever on Long Island first make sure you visit me, and second make sure you go to Yankee Peddler's Antiques.

Here is a little peek of what you will find:

It’s a three story house with each room dedicated to a specific vendor.

Peg board covers all of the walls in the rooms and hallways and there are a million and one things hung on the walls.

There are lots of fun finds. It was hard to take everything in at once.

DSC03318 A picked up something small from the room to take home with me. Any guesses on what I got?

Many of the rooms were having sales so items were an extra 20-40% when you bought them to the register.

You all know I’m having an obsession with the color blue lately. Add that with my love of orange and I wanted to snatch up these canisters very badly.

Those black floral vases on the table caught my eye right away. There $150 price tag per price did not.

DSC03323 A local interior designer has a room in the space set up with her finds. It had me itching to do the same thing.

I love seeing vintage chair with a new lease on life. To me though the $1,200 price was a bit high.

DSC03326

Oh a touch of animal print. I love that designer had her business cards matted on zebra print fabric.

DSC03328

Those blue vases were of course calling my name.

DSC03329 A trip to the basement was Chinoiserie heaven. Look at this amazing red lacquered dining set!

DSC03332

Sunburst mirror of course!

DSC03334

Giant parrot! Seriously it was like 3 feet high.

DSC03336

Bamboo settee!

DSC03335

Ah and true love! How amazing is this faux bamboo chandelier. I wanted to grab it right away. It was $425 and then 20% off. It does need to be re-wired.

I left without the chandelier. I wasn’t sure if it would be too large for my dining room and I wanted to sleep on it. We went to another antique shop a couple of blocks away and they had the exact same one for……$1,200!!!

You know what’s going to happen now right? I’m going to go and get the $425 and I bet you someone will have gone into the shop 5 mins before hand and snatched it away from me. I’ll report back and let you know what happens.

Now don’t you all want to come visit me on Long Island?

I DO want to come to Long Island now! What amazing stuff! Love the setee and the chinoserie table and chairs. Crossing my fingers the chandy is still there for you-it's fab! I recently scored a similar style table lamp at the alameda antiques fair-you can check it out on my blog, I posted about it last week.

What a fun store!

I'm guessing that pretty blue and white plate that was hanging on the wall came home with you?

Keeping my fingers crossed that the chandelier is still there today!

Yes I do! Amazing chandelier, but I can see why you'd pass the large pricetag without knowing how much it COULD be!

If it doesn't work out you can always resell it.

I love antique malls. Always worth the digging :) Dying over that white china cabinet in the back of the designer's stall. Gorgeous.

The red dining set was almost $700. I can't remember the exact number.

Ah fingers crossed the Chandelier is still there!

It's so funny that you posted about this store. I've passed it a zillion times but I have never stopped in because I thought it looked a little sketchy from the outside. I think I'll give it a go next time.

Let me guess what came home with A- probably the same thing my husband would have picked- the coconut bra! Let us know if the chandy is there when you go back. One of your readers probably ran and got it!
