Weekend Recap

Hello Loves,

I wanted to thank all of you for all the kind words of encouragement. I was truly not happy at my job. The work was mind-numbing and there really was no future there. Interior Design is where I want to be. So this now gives me the perfect opportunity to have the luxury of time! I can finish up my schooling, finish up the rooms in my house, finish the website and get working on my still as of yet Mystery project. Lindsay don't worry you'll know soon enough.

While I am now calm and getting excited over all that I can now get accomplished this was so not the way I was feeling on Thursday evening. I swear the tears just kept coming. The only person I could even get words out to was my husband. Poor guy he came home at 8 and I was just filled with things to say and tears a plenty. I totally feel like I'm going through grieving stages. This weekend was filled with lots of anger over the whole situation and then depression with feeling like a horrible partner to my husband. Ah very stressful. Friday was pretty much a lost day in which I allowed myself to just be angry and sad and everything in between. Nothing much got accomplished. Saturday morning though I woke up to a very sweet husband who I'm so thankful that I have. When we first started dating we took Valentine's very seriously and there were gifts galore, but as we've gotten older we toned it down a bit. I was so surprised on Valentine's day morning to be woken with a huge handmade Valentine's day card. So sweet. Jon had gone out and gotten supplies and made little construction paper figures of our heads with the pups included. He even cut out tulips one of my favorite flowers and glued them on as well.

Here it is:

Ok yes, Jon looks like a thug and I don't really wear my full-on bangs anymore (don't you love my Angelina Jolie lips?), but the pups came out totally perfect.

It was a great way to wake up, but I was still pretty mopey the rest of the morning. Then in the afternoon I got a call from Lauren who was in the car on her way to NJ! Exciting I know, but it gets better. She wanted to see if me and Jon could meet up her and Dave for dinner. I was so excited to finally get to meet her that I jumped at the chance. We meet up for dinner in Soho at 7. We had a very funny time trying to find each other. We are both horrible with directions and pretty much ended up walking in opposite directions for awhile. We did finally find each other and ended up dining at quite a fancy Italian restaurant without reservations!

We had some yummy Valentine's day drinks, the table minus me enjoyed some raw beef(ah), we couldn't stop talking, and our hubby's feel in love with each other as well. While me and Lauren were discussing Interior design, blogging, top secret project the men were chatting it up and literally sharing their meals with each other. The evening ended with a fellow dinner approaching our table and showing off some magic skills. My husband is still trying to figure out how he did his tricks. Lauren also proved that she has a little something up her sleeve as well and made a salt shaker disappear! To top it off the bartender was smitten with us and even gave us all a yummy dessert shot to hit the road with that was on the house. It was a very sweet ending.

It was an amazing night. So much fun to get together with both of them. Can't wait to do it again and totally wish I lived in VA so we could see each other all the time. Lauren did bring a camera and we took some pictures so hopefully she'll post it and you can see our gorgeous faces.

I just love this blogging world. It's really been so amazing to me. It gives me an outlet to let my creativity out. I've "meet" so many wonderful new people. I made so many great friends that have filled me with confidence and reassurance that I rock and will succeed. I have total love for Blogger.

So that pretty much was my exciting weekend recap. I spent Sunday at home and took the pups to the park and then just relaxed. While a lot of people have off for the holiday today my husband is not one of them so he was out the door by 9am. I wanted to take a holiday day here at Effortless Style Interiors, but I made the mistake of making my husband my business manager and he told me no way I had to work. Ha ha. So I'm in my home office about to do just that.

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Hi Camilla! I am very behind in my blog reading so I am just hearing the news from last week. I have been in your exact shoes and that is how I got here. I know it is SOOOO scary but it will be okay, I promise. No matter if you hated the job it still hurts to be let go. But this could be the push you were looking for to really get started.

When I started with my own clients, which at the time my boss was COMPLETELY for, things changed and we had a TERRIBLE blow up. I cried all night because I knew things were about to change, and they did but I am okay now. Long story I will tell you later.

Anyhoo, I am glad you are feeling better and I am so jealous you and Lauren live so close together!!!! I can't wait to see the pictures even if they will make me totally jealous!

Kwana told me all about your end of the week news. When one door closes, another one opens, a high-heeled foot in the door kind of door is what I see! Glad your weekend was nice.

I agree with Sarah - your hubby is a real keeper! You know, when I failed the Bar exam, I felt like a real loser, but shortly thereafter, I found the design blog world, and it made me realize my TRUE love - design. I think you've a very similar situation...Strange what the world puts in front of you - all for good reason! Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve!
Take Care!

I am right there with you! The housing market in Sacramento is really poor at the moment....so design is a natural step in the process of decline. I was at a job as Senior Designer for the last ten years...but had been planning my own studio for quite awhile. The place I worked downsized literally from an office of 15 to two people: the owner and one assistant. The upside is it got me off my butt to really get my own studio going and it has been GREAT! You will love it if you can get those first clients in the door. The blog will help ALOT! Hang in there...you will find your way...and don't hesitate to email if you need any tips or just a sounding board. Bloggers are great that way!
