Before & After: Dining Set
Remember these guys:
The two chairs were freebie’s from a client that was going to toss them and the pedestal accent table was a steal from a thrift store.
It’s not a traditional dining set up, but the space where it needs to go is rather teeny so it worked wonders.
This past weekend we had it looking like this:
Now everything got a coat of semi-gloss black spray paint. No sanding or priming was neccessary.
The seats got recovered and the tabletop, which was a bit beat up got some grass-cloth on top.
I had to share the trick Jon used to get a perfect cut on the hexagon top.
Because all of the edges were straight we were able to top up pieces of letter size paper to make a template.
You can then use your template on the grass cloth wallpaper and with a straight edge make some cuts with a new razor blade and you are almost finished.
A little wallpaper paste and brush to apply and you are finished.
The addition of the grass-cloth top took about 5 mins!
Making the template to get the perfect cut was a lot easier than trying to trace the space and then cut. With the template it is done in just one try with no problems.
Because they will be using it to eat on we will be adding a plexi-glass top to prevent stains.

This turned out beautifully! The grass cloth adds so much (and it reminds me a bit of the oomph tables, which cost a fortune).

What a huge difference! I love the idea of the grasscloth top, and the fabric for the seat is so cute. You have such an amazing ability to see the potential in what others consider trash!
