An old favorite… TOILE

In my late teen years/early twenties I was obsessed with toile! I would buy anything that had toile on it. From napkins to trash cans and everything in between I had it.  I even consider toile bridesmaid dresses for my wedding, but even I had to draw the line somewhere with my obsession.

For the last couple of years my addiction to toile has slowly disappeared. I no longer pick it up everywhere I go, but it still tugs at my heart strings when I see it pop up in stores.

With my new budget project (sissy’s apt) looming I started to think up what I direction I was leaning towards and toile slowly starting floating back into my head.

Then I finally get the current issue of House Beautiful ( I swear I think my mailman is a closet decorator and likes reading them before me) and saw this:

Amazing white walls, white floors, black & white toile, black & white stripes plus a touch of animal print. A space that is totally not me and completely me all at the same time.

This space is actually a studio apt in NYC. It has to function as a bedroom:

An office:

A living room:

They even took advantage of the hallway and made a big wow with sketches and notes. Everything looks important in a sleek frame.

After seeing this I knew I was on the right track for a space mixed with toile, animal prints and stripes.

A quick trip to my fabric closet and I found some key fabrics that I could put to good use!

* Apparently I’m not the only one in love with this space. The stylish Erin could see herself calling this space home as well.

I loved this issue. That parasol frame above the fireplace just drew me in and I couldn't stop looking.

It will be fun to see what you come up with. Your sister is a lucky girl. :)

Toile has never been my favorite...but I loved it in that space! I mean I LIKE toile, I just never felt the urge to ensconce myself in it. Cut velvet however...hold me back.

I was OBSESSED with toile too. So funny. Remember the harlem toile from Old Domino?? I now only have a toile dish towel, but I think it would be an ok pattern to have in my hypothetical nursery. Great find!!

TOILE! I love toile! Such an interesting combination as well, I have been looking for ways to incorporate toile into a more modern type of decor. Thank you so much for posting!

I fell in love with this apartment in HB and posted it on my blog a few days ago as well. I used to be toile crazy too but am less so now. I do love how subtle this toile is in this darling apartment.
