NYDC: The New Curators
Today I am part of a big event at the NYDC. It's called What's New/What's Next and my part of the event is being called The New Curators.
Cool, right? Sounds so fancy. I may have to put that on my business cards. :) The NYDC knows how important the blog world is to the design community so they gathered a bunch of bloggers and paired us up with showrooms on the 4th floor.
I'm at the Calger Lighting showroom and I'm loving every second of it. I was able to bring some props from home and design my own little blogging station while I am here.
I love a good lighting piece. I think often times we forget about lighting in our homes and it takes years for us to switch out the pieces that were left from the previous home owner. I'm totally guilty of that. I still have a brass chandelier hanging in my dining room, because I have yet to find the perfect piece to go there. I have lost out on 4 chandeliers on ebay! Craziness I tell ya.
Take a peek at some of the beautiful eye candy I'm looking at today:
Oh this is the latest addition to the showroom! It made in Spain!
Maybe I will finally find something to bring home with and replace the brass in the dining room.
Fingers crossed.
If you are at NYDC please stop by and say hello! I would love to meet you.

What a fantastic week you are having! I will admit that while I love reading about your adventures, I am the teensiest bit jealous. :) Have a great time---can't wait to read how the rest of your day goes!
i LOVE that first fixture..a lot.
i also have discovered after a year at my job that blogger isnt blocked, so Ive been comment whoring it up.
what a great week you've been having!
HOW LONG WILL YOU BE THERE FOR?
Will you be doing the same with the D and D building (much closer to my nek of the woods) I find the NYDC rather dead, very smart of Jim to have brought you in. He had been after me to open a showroom there, but always preferred to be right n the street.
oh man, losing ebay battles is the worst! i'm sure you'll find your dream light fixture when you least expect it. good luck on the search and enjoy the event. it sounds great! and if you have a spare second you should enter our giveaway at: http://www.faucethead.com/blog/?p=1208. we'd love to have you!
What a week you're having. New Curator does sound fancy
Funny - I usually focus on lighting first! We put in the lighting in our dining room before even doing anything in there other than paint :) but it's hard to do the rest of the house when lighting is priced so high most of the time!
ooo that sounds like a blast! i love it! i would definitely put that on a calling card - "a new curator". xx,jane
Congratulations! Very impressive. And I like the lamps you chose. I'm on my third year in my house, and just now am starting to think about lighting (have been working through furniture, walls and floors first).
Oh I wish I had been able to meet you last night! I am new to the blogging world and made it to the event a little later than I hoped last night. It would have been great to meet in person! What a fun event though! I was in awe. It was so fun to walk through all the showrooms. So many interesting people, great food and wine, and what great design!
