It pays to shop around

In my family I am know as to go to thrifty lady. Many of the items  in my home are finds from a thrift store. People are shocked when I let them in on my little secret. Most times when people ask where things are from I merely tell them that I found it in a little boutique in the city. My secret code to let people know it probably came from a thrift shop or  5 and 10 store and cost pennies!

Since family and friends come up to me on a regular basis and ask for help finding the most cost effective items (sounds so much nicer than just saying, cheaper.) I figured why not share with the blog world and post about great deals when I find them. So I’m going to make this a weekly post.

First up is a mirror  made out of recycled magazines. I’m in the process of doing a mini re-do in my bedroom.  When I first picked out our bedroom set I never ordered the mirror that matched the dresser and the set. I didn’t want everything to be too matchy-matchy and figured switching it up with a different mirror would do the trick. For this bedroom re-do I’m going to be going with a smaller mirror and going surrounding it with artwork and photo’s to make myself a gallery wall.

So here is the inspiration mirror that I found at Urban Outfitters:

urban mirror

It retails for $52.00.

Not bad, but I knew I could find better. Enter Wal Mart my go-to stop for inexpensive home accessories. It can be hit or miss, but today it’s a hit!

walmart mirror

This mirror retails for only $38.88 plus it comes with free site to store shipping, which is another savings!

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and went to go pick it up. To honest I really didn’t have high hopes for either version. I loved the idea of using a green product that contained recycled material, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to look. Well I’m one happy lady, because it is amazing quality! Right now it’s just leaning on my dresser awaking friends to arrive in order to all be put together in a gallery format.

How cute! We have a JC Penny catalog outlet near here and it's a great place for steals! My mind is boggled at all we've saved, and the pieces there are all really unique and fun.

Great blog...I'll be back for more delightful visits. :o)
