Dinnerware makes my heart pitter-patter.

All of my life handbags have made my heart skip a beat, but then you buy a home and suddenly the latest potato peeler or dish towels is what your rainy day funds start going to.

For me dishes have become my new handbags and two days ago while out shopping I spotted these amazing finds!

katespadedishes

Not only were they in one of my favorite color combos, reminded me of Henri Bendel's signature awnings and on clearance, but I flip them over and of course they are Kate Spade*.

My sisters were with me and they sweetly reminded me that I have an iphone now so I better snap a picture real quick and share this find with my readers. I snapped a couple of pictures and home we went.

Do you think I could get those plates out of my mind? No way! I wanted to run back as soon as I got home, but since I already have a million sets of dishes (ok it’s only 2, but still it’s a lot for just me and Jon) I decided I against.

I literally could not get them out of my head. Going to bed was a nightmare, because I kept having dreams that I went back to the store and they were gone aka this is where crying would ensue.

So, what does this lady do when she wakes up the next morning to a snow covered yard and roads that haven’t been plowed?

Answer:

katespadeathome

Yea that’s right she runs out, cleans the car has Jon clean the car, and makes a beeline for TJ MAXX.

I was able to snag 8 large striped dinner plates for $7.50 a piece, 8 striped bowls for $5 a piece and instead of the small dessert plates that I pictured above I decided to add a little polka dot, because who doesn’t love a polka dot for the salad plates at $5.50 a plate!

Now of course this couldn’t be the end of my story. There were only 5 polka dot salad plates and I need 8. So, while everyone else was getting prepped for their many parties last night I dragged Jon out to 4 TJ MAXX stores. Not one polka dot could be found in the color combo I wanted!

Don’t fret though, because today while everyone is hopefully still a little drunk from last night I’m headed out to check some more TJ MAXX shops.

Fingers crossed I find them.

* Dear lovely amazing people from Kate Spade  I profess my love so much for KS and my love for her handbags, accessories, shoes, clothings, home goods, etc don’t ya think it’s time that I get on the payroll?

Ha! Love it. The love for home vs handbags must be going around. I actually contemplated trading in my Christmas shopping $ for new sconces... then I kicked myself back to reality.

Good luck today!!!

Whoa whoa whoa! First off those are adorable. Second, TJ Maxx is open today?!?! *squeal* Third, it is SO very true that once a home is purchased, it's more fun to spend money on making that home beautiful than to adorn yourself with new arm candy. I.e. a lovely handbag. :)

Happy New Year!

LOVE! I can totally relate, I used to spend more on fashion, now all my extra money goes to decor! Funny how that shift happens as you grow up :)

Thanks for all the inspiring in 2009! Happy New Year!

That's exactly what I would do. I had a long-time love affair with handbags myself; but one day, dishes became the new handbag. I can't get enough. I'll swing by my TJ Maxx today and look for the missing polka dots. If we all work together, you may just get a matching set. :)

Those were worth the drive in the snow to TJMaxx. I have the same obsession and no storage for more dishes although you have me thinking I should run to my nearest TJMaxx and see what they have in store.
Have a wonderful new year!

I wore bright pink tights on Christmas day to profess my love for the Kate Spade look and you are right, it goes far beyond just the bag...the china, eyeglasses, shoes, etc ---
Yes, you should be a spokesperson for Kate!

Congrats on finding the full set - what a great feeling.

You will have to serve your honey some amazing dinner on those dishes for enduring repetitive TJMaxx disorder.

I tell myself to buy something on the spot that I can just take it back, but nope I always have to drive back out to the store for a second trip :) enjoy your new plates, they are cutie!
