One Stop Shop!

I love a good day at the thrift store. Yesterday I came home with a phone full of pictures of must haves.

Here are some of my favorites:

I could have easily used all of the items above in the same home. I loved the many pops of orange, the asian influence in some of the furniture pieces and of course the fact that I could have walked away with everything for around $1,000.

You need to keep an open mind while thrift shopping. During my first loop around the store I really didn't see much, but after checking the whole place out I realized that many of second glance pieces had a similar vibe.

Immediately I started picturing some pieces with a coat of paint, a fun toss pillow and a pair of lamps and knew that they could be stunning if they all came home with me.

What are your favorite tips for shopping a thrift store?

P.S. : I've gotten many emails from readers seeing if I'm currently taking on clients. I know it can be a bit confusing, because my portfolio site hasn't officially launched, but I've been taking on clients for about a year now. So if you need any help decorating virtually or locally (NY tri-state area) or know of anyone that needs help feel free to contact me or pass along my info to friends and family. :) You can reach me at cpavone0107@gmail.com

I love the advice I read in Bunny Williams book about thrift store shopping: Take inventory of the shape and quality. The bamboo desk could be extraordinary with a coat of paint, for example. I can't believe you found all of that on one trip!

So many great items, I agree taking your time and looking at things twice is always a good thing. That's when I ideas start flowing :)

I love thrift store shopping and would not have been able to leave with out the faux bamboo desk. Even though I already have one.

I've been a fan of your blog for about a year now. I wish you luck on the pursuit of your career. Can you generously share where is that "One Stop Shop"? I live in NJ, I'm always in the hunt for beautiful things to decorate my new home and this place seems to be a wonderful shop.

Thanks in advance,

Your Fan.

My thrift shop tip:
Even when you have spotted your biggest treasure, act cool about it, untill you have paid for it.
Here in Spain, woman look to other woman instead of picking something out by themselves.
