Blog Spotlight: DecorWrite

The other day I got an email from one of my previous clients. Along with design my favorite part about helping people design/decorate their homes is getting to know the home owners quite a bit. When I finish a project & leave I truly feel like I made some great friends along the way.
The email I received was to let me know that one of my previous clients, Shannon, had started up a design blog. Not just any design blog, but a blog that merged her love for design and literature. I’m a book worm so I immediately knew it would be up my alley.
Head on over and give Shannon a big hello!

{One of my favorite parts of this design job was reinventing that vintage chair. Shannon did the styling on the side table, provided the pup and snapped this picture.}
Totally need to set up a date with Shannon to snap some pictures of the finished project. You guys are going to love it!

Blog Crush: Rebecca Robertson

Rebecca Robertson is the designer behind the room from this morning post. She is also a decorating editor atMartha Stewart Living! (Ah total dream job)
In doing a little research I found images of Rebecca’s loft!
My favorite shot is from their bathroom:
You can see the rest of her home here. It looks totally different then the vibe/look from the room featured this morning. I gotta say I love both looks. Can’t figure out if the living room from this morning posts is in the loft featured in this post or if they moved.
Hmm….what do you think?

Blog Spotlight: The Zhush

I simply adore Sue’s tagline: Silly Name, Smart Style.
Sue is a fellow NY who covers design, entertaining and fashion on her blog, The Zhush. She is a girls girl who adores leopard print just as much as me. You must take a sneak a peek into her ski home that showcases her design talent!
Love her use of Cole and Sons Woods wallpaper.
Recently Sue has entered into the roll of shop owner with her own e-commerce site called Zhush.
She has some great gifts for the holiday:
1. I don’t think I would ever want to put a glass on these stylish coasters and cover up there beauty.
2. Everybody loves a little bling. It looks like there is a big chunk of rock candy on top of this wine stopper and I love it!
3. You know I think every home should have a touch of animal print. Get your touch with these hand paintedcatchalls
4.Obsessed with Orange. Obsessed with cozy. This blanketfits both obsessions.
5. I want a dressing room and in that dressing room I want a wall filled with these hooks. My purses would be so happy. The husband not as happy.
I just love getting to know the members of the blog directory. Have you submitted your blog?

Blog Crush: Manhattan Nest

So the other day when I was online doing blog hopping research I landed on Manhattan Nest.

Manhattan Nest.is a blog written by Daniel & Eva who are sophomores at NYU that recently moved into their first apartment together. After reading today's post I was hooked. I settled in with a cup of tea and started at the beginning.

The majority of the posts have been written by Daniel (Eva was home for summer) and showcase some amazing and budget friendly projects that he tackled to turn their apartment into a home.

Check out his bedroom:

That stunning bed originally looked like this:

Only $49.99 and with some imagination, batting, mdf, staple gun, fabric and these steps you now see the finished product in his room.

His desk area is another stunner.

Check out the before:

After a trip to Ikea for some legs and knobs and a trip to Home Depot for some MDF & painting supplies he now has this:

Let's move along to kitchen where you can check out how some accessories, lighting swap, paint job and a duvet turned window treatment can brighten up a space.

Their bathroom also needs a little time in the spotlight.

Check out their bathroom vanity before:

After: No that's not a new piece. It's just gotten a little TLC +wood+paint.

He also gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, which made me love my own black bathroom walls even more:

I can't wait to see what Daniel & Eva do next. If this is what they are doing as college sophomore's I can't wait to see what they accomplish next. Guys if you read this post we must get together and grab lunch one day so I can pick your brains and see that apt in person!

Shop till you drop!

Jamie from I Suwannee is totally living the dream. Not only has she taken on design client's, but this past November she opened up shop!

Many of us have already been ohhing and ahhing over her store front that goes by the name, Furbish Studio.

Many of her loyal blog readers that do not live in the North Carolina area pleaded with her to open up a virtual shop as well. Well everyone she listened and today we can all shop online!

I've already started to quickly fill up my shopping cart. Check out what has peeked my interest:

Chevron Frame:

Totally in love with that fabric that the frames are laying on! Anyone know where it is from?

Elephant bracelet that needs to be on my wrist right now!

Pillow are my weakness so it was hard to pick a favorite, but currently it's this one

Do you think Jon would notice if this showed up on our door step?

What's going to be making into your shopping cart?

*Open House post will be up this afternoon. :)

Have you met my friend Christina yet?

She is stunning:

She is business savvy: Those handcrafted blooms were done by her!

She is a mother of 5! That’s right she has a set of twin girls and triplet boys along with a cute hubby!

fullhousefamilyshot

She is thrifty shopper and has an amazing sense of style! Have you seen the latest room she’s worked her magic?

She transformed this room on a $250 budget! Those wallpaper panels behind the bed are actually scrapbooking paper on top of cardboard!!!!!

fullhousegirlsroom

I love all the small details. Look at that chic bolster pillow with hot pink trim!

fullhousegirlsroom2

Be still my heart LUCITE! Totally jealous of the little ladies that get to live in this room. The only lucite I have in my home is in the form of a bangle. So sad.

fullhousegirlsroom3

Love the additional seating nook and I spotted a wicker chair just like that yesterday at a thrift store! I knew it looked familiar to me.

fullhousegirlsroom4

Simple IKEA shelves were glammed up with a little burlap cover up and thrift store finds!

I’m in love! Ladies move on over, because I’m coming to visit! Check out more pictures of the room here.

As if that room wasn’t stylish enough check out her vision for her three little guys:
